Timing with astrology and BaZi: when, not just what

Most of what a chart says about you is fixed. Timing is the part that moves, and it is the part people actually ask about: is now the time. Lumia reads it on three clocks. Today, from the daily score. The season, from transits. The decade, from BaZi’s luck pillars. They answer different “when”s and the reading says which one your question needs.

Today: the daily score

Every morning Lumia casts the sky against your chart and the day’s element against your BaZi and writes a number and a message: what today favours, what it does not, and the one thing to do with it. The score is not a mood; it is which of your planets are being touched and how. A high day and a low day ask for different things and the message says which. Free.

The season: transits

Slow planets make the seasons. Saturn takes about two and a half years through a house and asks for discipline there; Jupiter takes a year and brings increase; Uranus and Pluto take longer and change the ground. Lumia’s transit reading names what is active against your chart this month, what it is asking, and how long it lasts. This is the reading for “should I make the move this quarter”.

The decade: luck pillars

BaZi divides a life into ten-year pillars. The one you are in either feeds your chart — supplies the element you are short of — or drains it. A career decade, a family decade, a decade for consolidating: these are readable in advance. The annual pillar does the same for the year. Lumia’s LifePrint draws the decades as an arc and names the season you are in. How to read a BaZi chart.

Frequently asked questions

What is a transit?

A planet in the sky now making an angle to a planet or point in your birth chart. Saturn crossing your Sun, Jupiter entering your seventh house, the Moon on your Venus. Fast planets make transits that last hours or days; slow ones last months or years. Lumia's transit reading names the ones active against your chart now.

What is the daily score?

Lumia's one-number summary of today against your chart: the transits in play, weighted by how exact and how strong they are, plus the day's element against your BaZi. It is the top of Today, and the reading under it says what the number is made of.

What are luck pillars?

BaZi's ten-year periods. Each has a stem and branch that meets your chart differently: a decade that supplies what you are short of, a decade that adds to your excess. They are the long clock; transits are the short one.

Is the transit reading free?

The daily card, message and score are free. The written transit reading — what is moving against your chart this month and what it asks — is Premium, $8.99 a month with a free first week.
